in Pedro Muñoz
The main entrance to this iconic building – next to the town hall and the main church – is on the Plaza de España and mixes 21st century modern elements with the Pedro Muñoz tradition.
To widen the entrance the team decided to setback the building and install a small garden, behind which the two main entrances are located (one via stairs and another via ramp, making the building completely wheelchair accessible). As with all its projects, Arquinur first analyzed the surrounding area to ensure that the building would blend in and form a part of its surroundings. The Cultural Centre opens from Paseo de la Mota, and now gives a wider view of the church, town hall and square.
The building’s semicircular exterior wall joins two façades, giving a large and monumental feel to the front of the building. The three-story high main hall has a glass curtain wall which encloses a large staircase that opens onto every floor; the glass wall allows visitors to see the entire Cultural Centre and surrounding square and provides the building with excellent light and energy.
